As a New England wedding photographer, one of my favorite parts of my job is capturing engagement sessions before my couples’ big day. Its such a great opportunity to get to know each other and for the couple to get practice in front of the camera. There are so many options for locations in New England. Whether you want a coastal vibe on Cape Cod, a charming cityscape in Boston, or a romantic harbor stroll in Newport, New England offers an endless variety of dreamy backdrops. Here’s a breakdown of some of the best spots for your New England Engagement Photo Locations
Note: this is not an exhaustive list. These are merely some of my favorites that I have had the pleasure of photographing at. One I did not list is Ocean House, which is truly my all time favorite- I just have only ever photographed weddings there!
Boston Engagement Session Locations:
As a Boston wedding photographer, I love how the city blends historic charm with beautiful foliage. Whether you’re planning a chic downtown wedding or something more traditional, a Boston engagement session helps tell the story of your love for my sweet couples that met in the city.
Boston Public Garden:
You can never go wrong with taking engagement photos in Boston Public Garden. It is truly is the most beautiful park in America… YEAH I SAID IT.
Beacon Hill:
One of the most historic and beautiful neighborhoods in all of Boston!
Newport / Rhode Island Engagement Session Locations
Ironically, even though I live part time in Salem, MA, I actually shoot the majority of my weddings in Newport. So naturally, Newport is a popular location for my couples’ engagement sessions. If you’re dreaming of coastal elegance, you can’t go wrong with Newport, Rhode Island.
Ochre Court:
Ochre Court feels like you transported to France.
Atlantic Beach:
One of the most beautiful sunsets to photograph in New England. The way the sun sets behind the beach leaving a glassy shore is perfect for dreamy photos.
Sailboat in Newport Harbor:
Is there anything more picturesque than a sailboat engagement session in Newport, Rhode Island at sunset? I can’t think of anything. One of the most fun and unique New England engagement photo locations.
Beavertail State Park:
An absolutely stunning sun rise that will make waking up at 4am worth it.
Massachusetts Engagement Session Locations
Cape Cod:
Truly, there is nothing more quintessential New England than a Cape Cod engagement session. Pretty much any beach will do, but these are at Long Beach (hydrangeas), Keyes Memorial Beach (gorgeous sunset), and Black Beach (cute house and dunes)
The Mount in The Berkshires:
One of my all time favorite wedding venues in the entire United States! It’s worth the drive from Boston, just trust me.
Nantucket:
I mean… it is Nantucket. Do I need to say anything else?
North Shore Massachusetts Engagement Session Locations
I am obviously bias being that I live in Salem, but the North Shore has some truly beautiful backdrops for engagement photos.
Crane Creek in Ipswich
One of my favorite sunsets is on this beach!
Appleton Farms in Ipswich

Salem
Again, I may be bias because I live in Salem, but it’s so much more than Halloween… from The Ropes mansion, to the waterfront district… it’s just the best!

Stone Acres Farm:
A gorgeous, quaint little farm with an absolutely stunning garden in the summertime.
Yale:
I don’t think there is an American college campus that is more European than Yale University.

This is my one and only engagement session in Maine! Such a fun date night AND engagement session option!
