Middleton Place Wedding | Charleston, SC Fine Art Film Wedding Photographer

Meredith and Michael had an incredibly special Middleton Place Wedding. The joy and anticipation were tangible in the air. The rain had come and gone all day, but it truly did not faze them. The most important thing was that they were getting married! And that is probably because it was…

A marriage 19 years in the making.

Michael & Meredith first met in 4th grade at Woodside Avenue School in New Jersey in 1999. After 5 years in school together, their paths diverged in high school when Michael and his family moved to South Carolina. Life went on for both of them, Gettysburg College and University of Texas Dallas. While they found themselves back in NJ in 2012, they did not run into each other before Michael accepted a job in St. Louis in 2013.

In February 2014, Michael sent Meredith a message to catch up. After 3 weeks of playing “how do I recap the last 10 years” highlights, Michael said to Meredith… “So I have a question for you. I’m going to a wedding in Long Island this summer, would you want to be my date to it?” Kara and Shawn’s wedding was July 2014. After over a year of long distance dating, and close to 15,000 air miles in trips between NJ and MO, The Holy City came into focus. Michael was accepted into medical school in Charleston in 2015, and they both moved down. They have been there for over 3 years!

Meredith and Michael wrote me one of the sweetest emails I have ever received…

“We cannot tell you how much we absolutely cherish all 859 of those photos. We’ve been meaning to email you back and tell you that. It was incredibly difficult to wait 3 whole days to sit down together and take in every one, but it was so worth it. So many moments where we would click to the next photo and we were just speechless, where we’d grab each other and hold on tight welling with happiness.

I remember my first phone call with you when you asked what I hoped for in my wedding photos and why I wanted you to shoot for us: I saw your ability to capture truly candid moments so I knew you would be able to capture “us” and our dynamic without forcing it even though we had never met and didn’t plan on having an engagement shoot to break the ice. Perhaps our silliness and constant laughter made this a little easier, but your calming presence definitely helped bring that out of us.

Next, you have such an appreciation for vivid color, heavenly/drool-worthy lighting, and beautiful, natural surroundings – you capture the whole picture and the whole scene, so important to us as we really enjoy shooting Charleston in that way and having lots to take in in a photo (if only we could channel your talent!). And finally, your true respect for marriage and love – so much of wedding planning takes away from the wonderful meaning of the day and we undoubtedly felt your genuine heart and your intention to help us focus on that. You made each one of those initial hopes come true and we are so grateful. You have such a special talent and gave us a gift we will cherish for many, many years to come.”

Thank you to all the amazing vendors and designers!
